Goodwill® generates opportunities for people to achieve economic stability and build strong families and vibrant communities by offering job training, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities, lack education or job experience, or face employment challenges. Goodwill is comprised of 165 independent, community-based Goodwill agencies in the United States and Canada with 14 international affiliates. Dell provides consumers free and convenient recycling options for used computer equipment. The drop-off convenience that Reconnect offers consumers is an important part of the recycling programs Dell offers. Why have Dell and Goodwill partnered to offer Reconnect?

Goodwill has a network of stores and donation centers and tremendous experience with accepting gently used goods, making Goodwill a natural convenient drop-off location for used computers. Dell has industry-leading experience in offering responsible consumer recycling programs that meet the highest standards of workplace and environmental safety. Working together, Goodwill and Dell can make free computer recycling available to more consumers and help raise consumer awareness about the importance of responsibly recycling used computers.

How do I know you will handle my computer responsibly?

Reconnect is managed to both Goodwill and Dell's high standards for workplace and environmental safety. All collection and recycling practices are audited by a third-party to ensure these standards are met. These standards include an absolute prohibition on the export of waste and on the landfill of any environmentally-sensitive material.

Do you accept computers from businesses for recycling?

Reconnect is designed for residential consumers who wish to recycle used computers. Businesses may have additional logistics or reporting needs that Reconnect does not offer and may wish to find a qualified asset recovery partner for their recycling needs.
